Ray Eames (1912 - 1988)
Ray Eames (Bernice Alexandra “Ray” Kaiser) was an American designer, artist and filmmaker who made significant contributions to industrial design, architecture and furniture. Alongside her husband, Charles Eames, she helped create some of the most recognisable designs of modernism, including the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman.
A trailblazer in a largely male-dominated industry, Ray Eames helped redefine the role of women in design. Her collaborative and multidisciplinary practice produced enduring work that continues to influence the way we think about furniture, architecture and design today.
