What is an IP rating?

IP stands for Ingress Protection, an internationally recognised rating system that categorises lights by the volume of solids and liquids the fixture is protected against.

The first number represents the product's permeability to solids such as dust and dirt. Whilst the second number accurately reflects the degree of protection the product has against water. Both numbers run on a scale, the first from 0 to 6, with 6 meaning no ingress of dust for up to 8 hours. The second digit runs from 0 to 8, the highest level (8) means it can withstand being submerged in water.

Our IP44 rated lights are designed to be easily and reliably specified for these wet zones while providing a contemporary feature to the home. Our products meet our aesthetic design standards, as well as the strict requirements for safe installation.

All of our lighting collections (aside from the Bright Beads Alice, Africa, Art Pendant Lights and our table lights), have an IP44 rating. Which means they can be safely installed in a bathroom environment and stand against the inherent heat and humidity.

Having the right lighting feature can enhance this atmosphere, adding sophistication and finesse, and we are pleased that our collection of IP44 rated lighting continues to expand.

Suitable for both interior and exterior applications, our Furl Wall Light is completely waterproof with a rating of IP67. The origami-inspired wall light made from folded sheets of metal rolled over to imitate the softness of paper.
