By exploring alternative means of production for the timber waste material, we were able to create a new offering and further improve our sustainability practices. Timber is a tactile and versatile material which can be used and repurposed in multiple ways to develop new components. 

Marz Designs takes great inspiration from Greek mythology, and a lot of our designs are imbued with a sense of grandeur, the architectural aesthetic of ancient civilisation, such as the column-like elements of our Attalos range. The Selene range of lighting continues this classical direction of thinking. Selene – the goddess of the moon – is a name with lunar connotations, meaning light, brightness and gleam. The goddess Selene was known for her personification of life’s constant changes. Since this range of lighting is an adaptation of one of our existing products (the Terra 00), it felt appropriate to name this range Selene, and continue our exploration of the mythos theme.

Selene Uplight

The Selene Uplight is crafted from a quarter timber dome that sits atop a cylinder derived from the FSC certified timber offcuts from our Terra 00 range. Featuring a uniquely handmade set of components, the wall-mounted Selene Uplight in Ash, Bleached Ash, Blackened Ash or Walnut offers a raw and sophisticated element to any interior space.

Available in two sizes; Small and Large.

Selene Surface Sconce

The Selene Surface Sconce has been inversely repurposed from the FSC certified timber of our Terra 00 range. Suitable for the wall or ceiling in both residential and commercial projects, the Selene Surface Sconce offers a tactile warmth and is complemented by either Brass, White Powder Coat, Brushed Black or Brushed Nickel finishes.

Available in three sizes; Large, Small and Mini.
