With your support, Marz Designs planted 853 trees last year through the One Tree Planted program. We believe in a greener future and are committed to supporting this wonderful global reforestation initiative.

Marz Designs is driven by sustainability and incorporates as many eco-friendly practises into our manufacturing and packaging processes. But limiting our carbon footprint is just the tip of the iceberg. We always endeavour to support and do more for our environment, and are proud to announce that we are members of the One Tree Planted program which supports global reforestation.

With every purchase made in the Marz Design shop, a tree is planted. We aim to focus on areas where we can have the biggest impact and therefore, opt to have our trees planted where they are needed most.

Andes

In the past, we have been able to contribute to tree planting seasons in locations including the Andes, a mountain range extending through several countries of the west coast of South America. The reforestation efforts in the Andes focus on Ecuador and Bolivia, but as part of a broader restoration initiative, extend throughout parts of Peru also.

Our donations are applied to the upcoming tree planting season, though in the Andes, this means Queuña Raymi – an annual tree-planting festival. Each December, One Tree Planted orchestrates various native polylepis trees (a species adapted to the high altitude region) to be planted using Incan traditions under the guidance of local leaders.

Amazon Rainforest

Interestingly, the Andes and its glacial terrain drains into the basin of the Amazon Rainforest, which is another site of our support for global reforestation. The Andes’ watersheds supply water to an immeasurable number of communities in the Amazon, who rely on the health of their rainforest for food, water and work.

The Amazon is often referred to as the ‘lungs of the earth’. We rely on this enormous area of green space to clean our air, stabilise our climate and promote biodiversity. Home to 10% of the world’s species, the Amazon’s high rainfall and tropically warm climate means that tree planting can occur year-round and yield a speedy growth rate.

India

Through your support, Marz Designs has also been able to donate to fruit trees including mango, guava, citrus, jackfruit and pomegranate throughout the subcontinent of India. This initiative provides sustainable harvesting opportunities to impoverished communities of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and nine other Indian states and ensures food security for years to come. 

One Tree Planted estimates that, “trees planted from these projects will positively impact 25,000 farmers and villagers. And we aren’t even close to being done yet!”

Planting a Greener Future 

As mentioned before, we are so proud to support the One Tree Planted program because each donation equates to so much more than just a tree in the ground. It’s reforestation in parts of the world that need it most. It’s sequestering tonnes and tonnes of carbon. It’s contributing to local communities, economy and employment.

Last year alone, One Tree Planted achieved the following:

• 23,588,232 trees planted across 6 continents
• Over 35,000 hectares/86,000 acres restored
• 166 different reforestation projects
• 42 countries
• 39,146 volunteers
