It’s more important than ever to work on sustainability and lasting design. That’s why we are so excited about our new retailer, Modern Times. Modern Times restores furniture, creating products that stand the test of time.

Modern Times’ restoration process is what makes them so special. They breath new life into vintage pieces with contemporary Australian style. They work with local artists & designers, like Henry Wilson & Nicolette Johnson, and we are excited to join the team.

Vintage pieces alongside contemporary design & art at the Modern Times showroom

Husband and wife duo Amy & Joel started Modern Times. As a matter of fact, we recently watched a great video from @broadsheet_melb about their beginning. It all started with Joel purchasing a crate of Danish furniture to sell. Long story short, they are in love with their work and spend their time searching for new projects.

“We value the integrity of each item and relish the opportunity to restore each piece to the original specification of the designer”

– Amy Malin, Modern Times

All of the pieces are carefully restored in-house. They are then displayed in their Smith Street showroom. The showroom acts as an exhibition space, pairing the newly refurbished pieces with contemporary Australian art. This pairing of old and new creates a truly unique experience.

The restoration process at Modern Times

Modern Times has taken on some of our favourite pieces here at Marz, including the Attalos, the Bermuda, and the Bronze Bottle Opener range. These are just a few of the pieces that represent the timeless architectural aesthetic and unique curated collection.

The majority of furniture included are rare pieces from the 1950s and 1960s and Modern Times carefully restores each piece. Their work extends the lifetime and use of furniture through great design. Likewise, reusing, recycling, and refurbishing is so important to us at Marz Designs. Lasting design is a testament to fine craftsmanship…

Products should be built and designed to last the test of time.
